I am so excited to share Zac and Sofia’s beautiful wedding at The Rooftop venue with you today! Their whole wedding day centered around family + a story of how two best friends fell in love. Zac and Sofia first met when he visited Colombia on his mission. Their families stayed in touch, and when Sofia came to the US for school, the two of them reconnected. After several months of hanging out and doing everything together, Zac and Sofia realized they were definitely more than friends.
The Rooftop Venue
The wedding was absolutely beautiful! The main reception room at The Rooftop venue was decked out with tons of twinkle lights. The color scheme was kept simple and classic with white flowers and lots of greenery.
Dressed to Impress
Both Zac and Sofia were definitely dressed to impress! Zac wore a custom green suit with the most fun shoes! His shoes are a collaboration between Dr. Martens and The Metropolitan Museum, and they were the talk of the town. Sofia looked radiant in her beautiful sleek wedding dress, pearl veil, and bejeweled shoes. She switched out her ceremony attire for a shorter cocktail dress + veil for a fun reception outfit.
A joining of families and cultures
Sofia’s family couldn’t make it to the US for the wedding, so the whole day revolved around making her family feel included in the celebration. The ceremony was live streamed to Colombia. Zac and Sofia exchanged their vows in Spanish, with letters laid out for all their guests that had the English translation. When it came time to the father/daughter dance, Sofia’s father had recorded a message for her and then they had a FaceTime call while their dance song played. It was all very touching, and I definitely teared up witnessing all the special moments.
The dance party kicked off with a bunch of latin flair – everyone was moving and grooving all night long! I have seen plenty of people dance together at weddings, but this was on another level! The salsa moves were just that much faster and more precise, and everything flowed so naturally! Although I couldn’t understand the Spanish songs, the vibes were immaculate, and I found myself wanting to participate in all the fun!
It was meant to be
From living in two different counties, to being best friends, and now to being husband and wife – what an adventure these two have already had! I am so happy for you, Zac and Sofia! It is so very evident how much you two care for each other, and I cannot wait to see where life takes you! Congratulations!
