I am so so happy to finally get this session up on the blog! We shot this session back in December, and boy was it freezing! We had hand warmers galore to try and keep everyone from dying, and only shot for like 15-20 minutes because it was so so cold. Although it was short, this Saltair formal session is one of my favorites for so many reasons.
First off, aren’t these two so dang adorable together?! I met Kamryn when I put together a stylized 4th of July session last year, and I knew she’d make the perfect model for this shoot. At the last minute our male model cancelled, so my handy dandy little brother stepped in, and we made it work! Although they aren’t a real couple, they still look beautiful standing next to each other haha.
Secondly, I wanted to try something a little different with this session – I didn’t start until the sun had already set! This is very different from my normal shooting style, because I usually want that warm yummy light! I love golden hour and don’t usually stray away from it, but I wanted to try shooting in blue hour, and I have to say that I am quite happy with the results! It’s not something I’d want to do for every shoot, but it added a cool mood to this look!
Last, I was bound and determined to get some awesome double exposures out of this shoot, and I think I succeeded! I’m obsessed with how they look, and now I always try to experiment with them at my sessions! There’s always something new to learn with photography, and that is why I love it so much! It fulfills my creative needs + keeps me learning + meeting new people and learning their stories is one of my favorite things ever!
