The Thomas S. Monson Center is a beautiful, Victorian style mansion located in the heart of Salt Lake City. The Victorian style, with it’s old-world romantic charm offers the perfect setting for a wedding. I had the pleasure of getting the grand tour from the manager, Amy Harcourt. She was as sweet as can be, as well as so informative! When you book your wedding with the Thomas S. Monson center, you’ll be working hand in hand with Amy to make all your wedding dreams come true.

Amy told me a little bit of the history of the building, and it is just fascinating! It is an actual home that was built in the late 1800’s. An addition was added in the early 1900’s, but a lot of the style and layout is original. No big deal, just a home built with an actual ballroom! How cool would that have been?! The University of Utah acquired the Thomas S. Monson Center through a donation, and the second floor still serves as university space (go Utes!).

For weddings in the main building, there are a few rooms on the first floor that are available, and these are perfect for a groom’s getting ready room! On the third floor is the beautiful ballroom, with a gorgeous bride’s room as well. There are also balconies on the third floor that lead out to little terraces, and it gives you a nice view of the surrounding Salt Lake skyline. In addition to the main building, there is also the Carriage House and plaza. This is perfect for a smaller scale wedding ceremony and reception! In the warmer months, you can hold ceremonies outside in their circular courtyard, and it is such a stunning backdrop!

When I asked Amy what was the best selling point of the Thomas S. Monson Center was, she replied with their customer service. They have a small staff, only serve a small number of weddings every year, and they make sure to take the best care of all their couples! Other selling points include: the use of tables, chairs, and linens with every rental, set-up and tear down by their staff, and the use of audio/visual equipment at no extra charge. And one of my personal favorite points, is that it’s so close to downtown! Perfect for Salt Lake temple weddings, or guests from out of town who are staying nearby!
